Any pedal that’s good invariably ends up in bits on somebody’s workbench and the circuit diagram will quickly be available on the internet. If you have a hot soldering iron, sufficient patience and a reasonable understanding of circuit design and layout, you can build pretty much anything.
The tedious part of building your own clones is collecting all the parts. Invariably you’ll have to source them from several suppliers, all of whom will charge you carriage and purchase tax. Pedals like ours require specialist components that are hard to track down and others can only be bought in bulk unless you are prepared to pay some hefty premiums. Costs quickly mount up and that project won’t end up being quite as cheap as you imagined.
So if you’re up for the challenge, we’re pleased to offer the Crank Starter and Drive Thru in kit form. We’ve done the donkey work so you get all the same components that we use, an unpainted, pre-drilled enclosure and full instructions. The only things you won’t get from the kit are box graphics and our one year warranty. The Crank Starter is the easiest one to build and the Drive Thru is slightly more challenging.
